Wishes DO COME TRUE!

After months years of me wishing for a phone, camera, and laptop that were better than my ancient G4 and my stupid phone (the anti-smart phone), yesterday my Dad and step-mom got me an IPHONE!
That's right an IPHONE!!!

iPhone, Oh how I love you, let me count the ways.

1. WORDS WITH FRIENDS

2. iTunes DUH!

3. The Camera, which will bring you, my readers a better blogging experience!

4. The email...I will now be able to have access to my glorious emails on the weekends too!

AND ON AND ON AND ON!

I've only had it for about 16 hours, so I'm sure I will grow to love it even more.

Melancholy Monday Music Post: Death Cab for Cutie - "Someday You Will Be Loved" (music video)

Easter (Russian Style)

My friend and bass player Chris is Russian. He hosted a Russian style Easter dinner at my house last night. It was awesome.
His girlfriend Lauren and him made a ton of food.
They made a perogies with mushrooms, vodka soaked prunes, potatoes with cheese and bacon, and sauerkraut. They also made a ham, creamed cucumber salad, kielbasa, and made us take shots of Vodka with a pickle chaser.
It was a good time with friends and good food. We finished off the night with some rock band.

(if I had a camera, a smart phone or a laptop I'd have pictures to share)

Viva is in town this weekend. For those of you not familiar. It's a 3 day fest of music, cars, PBR and everything Rockabilly. http://www.vivalasvegas.net/vlv14/
For my Friday Fashion Or Lack Thereof post I wanted to reflect some hot Rockabilly style and vintage Vegas class.

Travel...or the lack thereof

When I was in high school I had always dreamed of traveling the world. When I didn't go to college I had hoped to backpack Europe. I worked two jobs at 18 and saved what I could but never made it further than the West Coast. Fate had different plans for me.
My dreams changed to going on tour with my band. Traveling the states in a smelly van still has its appeal.
Now I just dream of paying my bills on time and getting to visit family when we can afford it.
I read a lot of blogs that are written by women who have the luxury of traveling all over the world, a tinge of jealousy stings every time I read about their vacations to Mexico, Bahamas, etc.
I have a new plan to save a little here and there until I have enough to go on at least one trip abroad by next year. We'll see how this goes.

My dream destinations are:

Italy - I've been reading a lot about Rome and watching a lot of movies about Italy. I would love to experience the history and of course the food.

Ireland My biggest historical obsession.

England- Another one of my historical obsessions.

The Bahamas- I love tropical...and I need a tan.

My more realistic dream destinations are:

New York - Never been.

Hawaii - I have been and I love it. I would really love to go in 2013.

Mexico - Also never been and would love to spend a week in Cancun.

Where would you go if you had the money?

Still wishing for a camera and a laptop

Because if I had both of these things I could deliver to you a better blog complete with photos and posts sooner rather than later...
A Weekend in the Life of Domestic Rockstar

Friday: We played a show at the Cheyenne Saloon. It was the smallest crowd we have played for since moving to Las Vegas. We still put on a good show. We have a brand new song called Sac Ecrou. It was seriously only a week old and I had written the lyrics in a day, but we nailed it and received a good response.
After our set I got pretty hammered and chatted with some friends. It was a blast.

Saturday: I attended the Easter Couture Community Fashion show. I donated my awesome design skills for their program and fliers. It was a great event and the designers all did a great job raising over $1100 for Easter Seals.
I can't go to these shows without being inspired to flex my creative muscles. After the show my best friend Brandy and I headed over to Insert Coins a new Barcade. It is super cool and will probably be taking a lot of my money during its lifetime.

Sunday: A good friend of ours came in from San Francisco for a "Hangover" style weekend and as it was his last full day in town we hung out and barbecued. We hadn't seen him in 8 years (since our wedding) and spent the day catching up.

Monday: My weekend extended into yesterday. I had to take a day off due to unfortunate circumstances with our Daycare provider. Hayden and I spent the day together. Really he played all day and I cleaned, sneaking in Rock Band and some needed Netflix therapy.
Brandy needed some people to be in the background of a filming for Hells Kitchen and as she is my BFF I got dressed up and headed over. We really just got to chat for like an hour and then I headed home.

I'm back at work today so my weekend is officially over.

The Notwist "One With the Freaks" Director: Keith Schofield

I first heard this song on a mix cd I got in a mix cd exchange from my friends on gigposters.com. In some sort of miracle Pandora played this song for me today, and it made me miss mix cds.

Friday 'Fashion or Lack Thereof' Sunday LOUNGE Day

My Sundays are my Lounge Days. We usually have breakfast with friends then play video games or watch movies. I clean, do laundry and normally don't want to leave the house. This is a collection of the simple but sweet things I love on Sundays.

It's a "kid" thing ....

Every married couple with kids has those friends who don't have kids or are single.
Most of us with kids used to be single, more financially carefree and able to make spontaneous plans at the drop of a hat.
Some of us adapt into juggling parenthood and social lives well, others have a hard time with it, and then there are the few who just don't care for parenthood and stay in the "single carefree" mindset.
Being a good parent means we to have a PLAN before we can do anything that isn't Chuck E Cheese, the park, or a family restaurant.
We have to have a babysitter, money for the babysitter which requires we know the hours we're going to be gone, and we need more than a couple hours notice. If the sitter isn't available or we don't have the money to afford her then one of us has to stay home. In a partnership that usually means we compromise and take turns.
In my relationship we also have to juggle the band into our parenthood dynamic. Playing shows, practice and networking might as well be a second job.
Brian and I both enjoy going out and being social. We enjoy doing things together but more times than not one of us has to stay home due to finances.
When one person gets to go out more than the other or makes no effort to PLAN for us both to go out then tensions arise. Its a sucky thing to not have any "adult" time with the person you love and it causes problems in relationships.

How do those of you with kids deal with these issues?

MUSIC MONDAY!! Tomahawk - God Hates a Coward

A Fabulous Weekend

Monday of course came too soon. My weekend was full and fabulous all around.
On Friday we bbq'd some tri-tip and played Rock band with our friends.
On Saturday I had a "girls night" of sorts with my friend Tamara. We went to see one of my bffs, Cathy in a play called Machanical.
The lead Sarah was my model in the Valentines Couture fashion show and was absolutely amazing. The whole cast was just awesome.
Feeling completely moved and a bit more cultured, Tamara and I headed over to a metal show at a small bar called Meatheads.
We drank PBR, watched the bands, chatted and had a great time!
Yesterday was a laid back day at home playing Rock Band and hanging out with friends.

I really wish my home computer was working correctly or that I could afford a laptop. Not being able to post photos is annoying.

I hope you all had a grand weekend.

Friday Fashion Or Lack Thereof: Childhood Revisited

For this Friday's installation of Fashion or Lack Thereof I wanted to find some cool stuff from my childhood that have come back into style (or never left style) since I have been so wrapped up in video games, cartoons, and the 80's lately.
